Dry-type transformer is a type of transformer in which the internal iron core and winding are isolated from insulating oil, and it is a form of transformer that is cooled by natural cooling or wind. As a new type of equipment, dry-type transformers are widely used in high-rise buildings, factory buildings, subways, airports and other places.

1. There are three types of dry-type transformers
(1) Open style
Open-type transformer is the most common form. Because of its structural characteristics, the transformer body can be used directly in contact with the air. This type of transformer is mostly suitable for air drying , and work in a clean room. In terms of cooling methods, there are generally two forms of wind cooling and air self-cooling.
(2) Closed
The body of this type of transformer is not exposed to the air, but is often sealed in an airtight casing to isolate it from the air. Due to its manufacturing characteristics, strong sealing and limited heat dissipation conditions, this type of transformer is often used in some closed environments such as mines, and it is flame-proof and explosion-proof, with good safety performance.
(3) pouring style
This type of transformer is small in size and simple in structure. The main material is epoxy resin or other resin materials for insulation. It is common in transformers with small capacity.

2. Advantages of dry-type transformer
(1) Dry-type transformers are safer to use
The insulating material of the transformer is mostly flame retardant, so its use can effectively avoid the possible fire or explosion hazard during operation. Even if a fault occurs during the operation of the circuit and a fire occurs or there is an external fire source, the insulating material of the dry-type transformer itself will not cause the fire to expand.
(2) The maintenance cost of dry-type transformer is lower
Normally, dry-type transformers do not suffer from oil leakage and oil aging. It can maintain long-term operation without maintenance. To a certain extent, subsequent maintenance costs are saved.
(3) The dry-type transformer occupies a small area
The dry-type transformer has fewer internal parts and no oil storage, so the body is lighter and more flexible. Lightweight and small in weight, it will not occupy a large space during installation. The installation of dry-type transformers is divided into two types: indoor and outdoor. Generally speaking, it can be installed indoors, and it can be used for outdoor operations under special circumstances. When installed indoors, the dry-type transformer can be installed in the switch cabinet, saving the space occupied indoors.
Dry-type transformer is a relatively advanced form of transformer. When the second-hand dry-type transformer needs to be disposed of, don't throw it away at will, but choose a regular manufacturer for recycling, so that the dry-type transformer can be better recycled and reused.
